By Deena Bodine, LCSW – May 14, 2019 Life can place many demands on us: work obligations, financial pressures, health issues…the list goes on. These life stressors can make it difficult to be at our best as parents, especially when we feel overwhelmed, frustrated, discouraged, or defeated. What Gibson County says about Youth First

When I connected with others through Youth First, I began to fill the holes in my heart with new, positive people. My confidence grew as well as my self-worth. I wore my battle scars as a code of honor, even though every day was still a struggle. But without those scars, who would I be today?

I used to be on the wrong path. Youth First’s Reconnecting Youth program helped me understand that talking, being honest, and making school a priority will help me in the long run. My plans for the future are now completely different from what they used to be. I am going to college for a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and management. I hope to become a resort manager.
