What Gibson County says about Youth First

“When I connected with others through Youth First, I began to fill the holes in my heart with new, positive people. My confidence grew as well as my self-worth. I wore my battle scars as a code of honor, even though every day was still a struggle. But without those scars, who would I be today?”

“I used to be on the wrong path. Youth First’s Reconnecting Youth program helped me understand that talking, being honest, and making school a priority will help me in the long run. My plans for the future are now completely different from what they used to be. I am going to college for a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and management. I hope to become a resort manager.”

Prevention Coalition

Caring Communities of Gibson County is the Local Coordinating Council for Gibson County. This designation comes from approval by the State of Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, which monitors county fees collected on drug and alcohol-related charges in the courts system. The LCC has the authority to grant these funds annually to county-based prevention, treatment and law enforcement agencies through a grant application process.  For more information about the grant application, please contact Diane Hornby at the email below.
